YEScarolina Partners with SEED SPOT for Summer Entrepreneurship Camp

National Entrepreneurship Organization Provides Social Entrepreneurship Curriculum for the Implementation of YEScarolina’s Startup Camps.

CHARLESTON, SC – In efforts to expand its entrepreneurship programs and opportunities for young people in South Carolina, YEScarolina is excited to announce a new partnership with SEED SPOT during National Entrepreneurship Week. Beginning this year, SEED SPOT will provide their social entrepreneurship focused curriculum for YEScarolina teachers to use in their YES Startup Camps.

Working with SEED SPOT to implement their 20-hour curriculum in YES Startup Camps allows YEScarolina to give students across the state an additional avenue to explore the opportunities that starting a business can provide. SEED SPOT is a national nonprofit organization focused on supporting social entrepreneurs creating a product, service, or technology that improves lives or makes the world a better place. Their programs include a 5-hour virtual training on the curriculum that can be easily completed by a YEScarolina Certified Entrepreneurship Teacher in South Carolina.

To date, YEScarolina’s entrepreneurship curriculum is focused on high school classes during the regular school year. The partnership with SEED SPOT allows YEScarolina to further its reach to those students enrolled in schools that do not yet have an entrepreneurship class and increase the access for all students to pursuing their entrepreneurial dreams. The weeklong Camp is also easily completed during the summer season. “We believe every student should have access to pursuing their dreams for starting an entrepreneurial venture and learning how to be the future leaders our world needs. Partnering with YES Carolina enables us to support students in South Carolina with game-changing ideas, ” said C’pher Gresham, Chief Strategy and Operations Officer at SEED SPOT. Students participating in the YES Startup Camps will be allowed to compete in a category dedicated to social entrepreneurial businesses at the annual YEScarolina State Competition. Winners are also awarded top prizes separately.
