Teen Entrepreneurs to Compete for Seed Money in 3rd Annual YEScarolina Business Plan Competition

Judge Invite

Over twenty students will go head to head at the May 6th Motley Rice County Business Plan Competition for the ultimate prize of $1,000 and the chance to advance to the Mark Motley Foundation State competition.

Participating students are coming from eight high schools in the tri-county area that successfully competed in their class level business plan competitions organized by YEScarolina and made possible by local law firm Motley Rice LLC.

Throughout April, over thirty students presented their full business plans in the classroom to peers, teachers and judges from the business community for a chance to win capital to support their business ideas. In this initial round of competition, the top three students from each of the Motley Rice Class Competitions won seed money in the amounts of $250, $150 & $100, respectively.

Now the top students advance to the Motley Rice County Competition on May 6th hosted at the College of Charleston School of Business. This will be the largest business plan competition that YEScarolina has hosted to date. The public is invited to attend the competition at 5 Liberty Street with the preliminary round at 2:30 pm and finals at 5:30 pm.

Before the final round of competition, there will be a unique presentation to watch at 4:30 pm. A blind student, Taylor, and autistic student, JSpeed, both from West Ashley High School, will present their business idea, Eye Wanna Shop, followed by a brief interview with YEScarolina founder, Jimmy Bailey. These students are truly inspiring and a delight to watch.

Now we have to wait and see who will win the coveted first place prize!
