From June 17th through the 20th, YEScarolina hosted a Teacher Training program. The program trained South Carolinian teachers to teach entrepreneurship to their middle and high school students. The Training was held by a Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) approved instructor, and was available at no cost to the eligible teachers. The training is at capacity with teachers from all across the state, including teachers from the Charleston, Awendaw, Richland, Berkeley, Dorchester, Pickens, and Columbia areas in attendance, from backgrounds in both private and public school systems. The teachers learned different methods of instructing students in entrepreneurship and creating their own business plan, and they are now well prepared to help students across the state in becoming young entrepreneurs, from learning how to teach their students business basics to helping them calculate their Return on Investment. By the end of the training the teachers earned 26 contact hours and were certified by the State of South Carolina to teach entrepreneurship in schools. The Training Program was held in Downtown Charleston, at the Beatty Business Center of The College of Charleston, and was made possible by donations from the Charleston chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
