Jerome Smalls, CEO of The Handykid and recent graduate of Zucker Middle School was recently named Youth Entrepreneur of the Year for the Carolinas by Ernst & Young. The Handykid was one of 8 companies recognized in the Carolina’s and Smalls was the only Youth award recipient. Award recipients were honored at a black-tie awards banquet last week in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Handykid began as a hobby and became a business after attending YEScarolina’s Zucker Entrepreneurship Camp last year. He was the lucky winner of the Biz Camp and therefore the recipient of seed money to start The Handykid as a full fledged business.
Earlier this year, we also named Jerome Youth Entrepreneur of the Year and he was honored at the NFTE Dare to Dream Gala in New York City.
“This is yet another incredible honor for Jerome with many more to follow in his career and an entrepreneur. We are so proud of Jerome.” Jimmy Bailey, YEScarolina Founder.
